The Challenge

To position Hyatt as the ‘deliverer of dreams’ and help people enjoy the moment; whether it’s setting up a big, fat Indian wedding or pulling off the perfect proposal.

The Treatment

By creating two beautiful, heart-warming films, we planned to showcase how Hyatt’s intimate and welcoming hospitality solutions are designed to add YOU in your special moments.

We focused on contemporary narratives between romantic partners involving life-changing, decisive moments, unfolding in a ‘dream-like fashion’ at Hyatt. The idea was to capture the essence of how with Hyatt, the possibilities of making your dreams come true – are truly endless.

The Craft

For both films, we wanted to create an overall soft, warm ‘film’ like texture. The aim was to film dreamy visuals with the use of warm lighting, film grain and cinematic compositions so that each and every shot had a vibrant yet nostalgic vibe to it.

When it came to lighting, we wanted to mimic nature as best as we could by making sure all our lighting sources look and feel organic. The idea was to present the property as a romantic getaway and also an almost surreal looking, dreamy escape.

We achieved this by dressing the property with loads of interesting looking practical lights and then turning them ON like a domino effect. Moreover, we opted to shoot with anamorphic lenses, to give these intimate tales a larger than life look & feel.

These lenses make every scene cinematic thanks to their wide opening; inviting audiences right into the stories. What makes these lenses so widely used in cinema are their quality to create interesting bokehs, reacting strongly to lens flares and a very soft fall-off area on the corners of the frame. Meaning, when centre framed, our subjects stand out sharply from the background.

Since both films had intimate conversations between the couples, we wanted to cover these  sequences in a controlled, handheld manner giving each shot a sense of faint breathing.

But as the story unravels further and introduces the Hyatt hospitality/architecture, we used classic dolly and aerial moves – the conversations motivated the camera movements.

Same can be said for our frame composition. We used a visual vocabulary which was designed to keep the chemistry of the characters at the forefront. We began from tighter character-led compositions and gradually started to go further away and frame the property along with them as the narrative moves forward towards the climax.

To enhance this feeling and convey a sense of cinematic joy, we also gradually switch from regular frame rate to slow motion in the second half of both the films, wherein the BG score kicks in louder as emotions take CenterStage.

Setting wise, we wanted to showcase the intimacy and softness of a marriage ceremony so we made use of pastel colours along with a lot of flowers and scattered petals.

We wanted to cast two couples who had that natural, believable chemistry in order to deliver the best output; one that was intimate, magical, and straight out of a dream.
