The Challenge

Dell had released a new laptop Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 and wanted to showcase its versatility, speed, and amazing display in a non-direct and organic way.

To achieve this, we decided to create a ‘day in the life’ of architect, illustrator, and graphic designer – Aasthi Miller to subtly highlight the features whilst her going about her usual day.

The Treatment

The film is a day in the life of an architect and mural designer Aashti Miller as we dive deep into her process and how the laptop plays a key role in her work.

With this in mind, we thought that instead of having a conventional sit-down interview in one place, we should distribute it in different parts of the space that best reflects the content and b-rolls.

The Craft

As she talks about the morning and her day, she will be sitting at the coffee table sipping her coffee talking about the morning.

As she begins her day, we see her scattered near the study and the couch area – both the spaces that she naturally uses when working on an illustration.

We designed the camera movement in a way that makes the viewer feel as if we are moving with her from space to space.

We took inspiration from her actual home to design her space which best reflected both her taste as well as the kind of artist she is.

Through a mixture of fast and normal paced shots, the edits allows the viewer to feel as if they’re on a journey with the character.

We wanted to keep everything very free-flowing with a lot of mood shots of her environment, her work, and Aashti in general.

We aimed at keeping the laptop at the forefront as her everyday companion which supports her through her every endeavour.

Location wise, we chose a space which was as per Aashti’s aesthetics. As someone who loves symmetry and geometrical lines, our aim was to create a space in a way that reflects her vibe and art as closely as possible.

During our conversations with her, we made notes on key aspects that define her taste, her space and how she uses the elements around her for inspiration.

Keeping that in mind, we designed the look of the home cum art studio in such a way where these inspirational elements were organically incorporated in her environment which then allows her to draw inspiration from it organically.

Art wise, we went for a modern and contemporary look to the space which was filled with personal artifacts, cluttered with paintings and plants but in a manner where every element has its own space.

We chose a palette that would reflect Aashti’s identity, personality, and aesthetic.

We wanted a location that would accurately depict Aashti’s aesthetic sense. As someone who loves symmetry and geometrical lines, we aimed to create a space that reflected her vibe and art as closely as possible.
